John Qiang is an Investment Strategist at Buttonwood Capital Management with a diverse background spanning both institutional and retail investment experience. A key member of the firm’s investment team and its Investment Policy Committee, he helps shape Buttonwood’s investment strategy and decision-making, focusing on managing clients’ overall financial picture and enhancing the firm’s investment platform.
Before joining Buttonwood, John held roles at State Farm Investment Management, BMO, and Vanguard, where he built deep expertise in capital markets research, investment manager due diligence, strategic asset allocation, and retirement planning for both individual and high-net-worth investors.
John earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Management Information Systems, summa cum laude, from the University of New Mexico. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, which reflects advanced competency in portfolio management and a commitment to the highest ethical standards of the profession.
